Introduced in 2020, the Q5 TFSI e PHEV was introduced globally as the German brand’s second plug-in hybrid model, following the successful A3 e-tron. With the addition of the plug-in hybrid Q5, Audi is bringing electrification to its most popular model globally, bringing eco-friendly chops to its luxury compact crossover SUV. The Audi Q5 55 TFSI e competes with other compact plug-in hybrid luxury SUVs such as the Lexus NX450h+, Lincoln Corsair PHEV and Volvo XC60 Recharge.
From its introduction in 2020, the Q5 55 TFSI e kept everything that made its ICE variant so popular: standard Quattro all-wheel drive, 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and 25.8 cubic-feet of cargo volume and added a 14.1 kWh lithium-ion battery and a heat pump for the climate control system for increased efficiency while using the electric drivetrain. Add in over 360 hp and the plug-in hybrid is even more powerful than the SQ5 performance variant. For its 2022 model year refresh, the battery was increased to 17.9 kWh for increased range, keeping the over 360 combined horsepower and 7.4 kW charging rate.
For its introduction in 2020 through the 2021 model years, the Q5 55 TFSI e draws electric power from a 14.1 kWh lithium-ion battery and 141 hp electric motor. Fully charged, the compact luxury crossover was able to drive for 20 EPA-tested miles emissions free. With 2022’s refresh introducing the 17.9 kWh battery, with range increasing to 23 miles on the EPA test cycle.
For all model years, the Q5 55 TFSI e can charge its lithium-ion battery at up to 7.4 kW on a Level 2 charger, making a 32-amp home charger like our JuiceBox® 32 the ideal choice for drivers looking for a home charger combining smart technology with an affordable price. Home charging the Q5 55 TFSI e will take about 2.5 hours using our award-winning 7.7 kW charger.
