A new EV startup, Lucid Motors, is making headlines with its sleek, luxury, and incredibly fast electric vehicles. The Silicon Valley-based company is headed by Peter Rawlinson, former chief engineer of the Tesla Model S and supplier of batteries to the Formula E racing series. The first model by Lucid is the Lucid Air, a fully electric sedan.
The Lucid Air is a newcomer in the luxury EV space. This sleek all-electric sedan competes directly with Tesla’s Model S. With a top speed of 217 miles per hour, up to 1111 horsepower in the top trim, and 0-60 miles per hour in under 3 seconds, this is an incredibly high-performance EV.
For Level 1 and Level 2 charging, Lucid EVs use the industry-standard SAE J1772 connector in North America. Charging times vary depending on the charging station used.
