The Genesis GV70 lends its athletic body work as the basis for another electrified model under the Korean luxury brand’s umbrella. Launched in 2022 as a follow-up to the Genesis Electrified G80, the Electrified GV70 doesn’t utilize the auto group’s E-GMP platform but instead utilizes the existing Hyundai-Kia M3 platform with the best features from E-GMP: charging, battery and electrical system. As a compact electric crossover, the GV70 rivals other models like the Lexus RZ and Tesla Model Y.
Since the Electrified GV70 is based on its gas variant, it comes with every luxury amenity that the gas-powered model offers in a traditional SUV-sized body. It features a full-leather interior, 14.5” infotainment display and control knobs and buttons made from knurled metal. Similar to other Genesis models, the Electrified GV70 comes with active safety systems including a 360° camera, front collision warning and parking assistance, making it one of the safest electric compact crossovers on the road.
Mashing together the internal combustion M3 platform and bits from the Korean group’s E-GMP platform has proved successful for the brand. Similiar to the Genesis GV60, the Electrified GV70 takes advantage of all electric parts of the platform: 77.4 kWh battery, 11 kW Level 2 charging and up to 350 kW DC fast charging. Regardless of trim, the Electrified GV60 also offers a dual-motor, all-wheel drive set up that allows for 429 horsepower over 236 EPA-certified miles of range.
Charging at home can make owning an EV seamless. By using a 11 kW Level 2 charging station like the JuiceBox 48, Electrified GV70 drivers can schedule and monitor charging sessions, manage electricity consumption, and use voice control with Amazon Alexa to for additional control.
